June saw an increase in new home starts here in Dothan over last month’s numbers, although the number of permits issued was down compared to June, 2008. Overall, new home permits issued are down 21.8% year-to-date when compared to last year.
The number of new construction homes for sale around Dothan has dropped to 212, down from a high of 257 houses in April. The number of new homes sold was up sharply to 23 in June, with an average price per square foot of $110.81, and average days on the market of eight months. That is a huge jump in both these figures compared to last month.
Looking at the quarterly home starts over the past three years tells much the same story. The new construction market in the Dothan area is pretty flat right now.
